Ken offers a variety of photography workshops specializing in beginner to intermediate level classes. Classes can be customized to fit your group's needs and can range from a one or two hour class given in one evening to multi-evening events. The tips, tricks, and techniques Ken offers are presented in a beginner-friendly manner and most concepts work with practically any camera, from an ultra-expensive pro model to a point and shoot disposable camera. Participants will leave Ken's classes with methods and concepts they can put to use right away.
Ken lives near Indianapolis but is willing to travel almost anywhere. He requires that his expenses be paid and a modest honorarium.
On location photo workshops and "safaris" can also be arranged. Ken knows moderately to very well several US national parks and recreation areas including: Zion NP, Bryce NP, Capitol Reef NP, Canyonlands NP (Island in the Sky District), Arches NP (and the Moab, Utah area), parts of Grand Staircase/Escalante NRA, Yellowstone NP, Grand Tetons NP, Mesa Verde NP, Acadia NP and Mt. Desert Island (and several areas along the Maine coast), Cape Hatteras, Cape Lookout, and Assateague Island National Seashores (as well as many coastal areas and attractions from Georgia to Delaware), to name some. Ken is also quite ready and willing to research prior and arrive early to familiarize himself with locations new to him.
With all those fantastic and iconic locations just mentioned, also remember that photographic opportunities abound in most all places, probably even your own back yard. And, though Ken is primarily a landscape photographer, he can offer a great deal of information on how to shoot better "people" pictures like capturing family gatherings or just recording the day to day happenings of life for posterity.
Whether it's your church or civic group, club, home school group, family or even an individual, Ken will make you feel at ease and adapt the "lessons" to where you are at on the photography scale of savviness. You set the pace and the schedule. Ken specializes and takes great delight in showing beginner and intermediate photographers how to get more out of a location, subject, conditions, and equipment (point and shoot cameras are welcome...you don't need a fancy SLR to take advantage of most of the concepts Ken presents...no stuffy know-it-all attitudes here!).
Ken has served as a Christian minister most of his life and all sessions can be presented with appropriate devotions/Bible studies if so desired.
Please e mail Ken about the possibilities of him instructing/leading your group in a fun, practical, and beneficial photography experience!
